Listening to Anxiety: A Natural Approach to Support and Resilience
Anxiety isn't a weakness, it’s communication. Simply put, it’s your nervous system tapping you on the shoulder, asking for support. And while we often try to push through or quiet the noise, I’ve found that the most powerful approach is to pause, listen, and respond with care. Over the years, I’ve built wellness brands and worked closely with world-class minds in longevity, and I’ve learned that anxiety isn’t something we need to escape, it's something we can work with.
One of the most effective tools I reach for is magnesium glycinate. Unlike other forms of magnesium, this one helps relax both the body and the mind especially when taken in the evening.
I also rely on L-theanine, a natural amino acid found in green tea that promotes calm focus without sedation. It’s great if you like coffee, but it makes you feel jittery - or on its own when you’re feeling overstimulated.
For deeper stress resilience, ashwagandha, especially the KSM-66 or Sensoril form has been an incredible adaptogen in my toolkit. Consistent use helps balance cortisol and takes the edge off high-pressure days. But supplements are just part of the equation.
Breathwork - simple, slow, and conscious can shift your state in under two minutes. I often take a few rounds of deep breathing between calls to reset. In our hyper-connected world, setting digital boundaries is a radical act of self-care. No screens an hour before bed has become a sacred rule for me, and it’s changed my sleep quality and mental clarity.
Movement is another form of natural medicine. Whether it’s a long hike on my ranch, a walk on the treadmill, or dancing in the kitchen with my daughter, getting into my body helps me get out of my head. So, if you’re feeling anxious, start small. Try one of these tools this week. Remember, anxiety is a signal, not a flaw. When we tend to it with intention, we create space for clarity, vitality, and grounded leadership. Wellness isn’t about fixing ourselves, it's about supporting the systems that carry us. And you deserve to feel supported.
To your vitality,
Lizanne
