Stop Perfecting The Idea. Start Building The Thing

Ideas are everywhere. I meet aspiring entrepreneurs constantly, pitching me products with real passion and, often, a genuinely good idea behind them. What surprises me is running into that same person two years later, still shopping the exact same idea, no closer to building it into anything.

Entrepreneurs are creative. They have to be. But creativity alone does not build a company. What separates the people who actually build something is knowing how to push an idea through every stage product, funding, distribution, sales using that same creativity to solve whatever shows up along the way.

I am asked constantly how I built think! bars  into a national brand. What people are really asking for is my process, the exact steps. I wish I could hand over a manual. I cannot, because every entrepreneur's journey is different, and most of the uncertainty only reveals itself once you are already moving.

I never went to business school, so I never learned that you are supposed to map out every step before you start. I just took the next logical one, then the next, without knowing what came after. I was not afraid of mistakes. I tried to avoid them, but I never let the fear of one stop me from moving.

When the first pallets of bars, over 7000 of them, landed in my garage, I picked up the phone and started calling buyers. I had never sold anything in my life. I just started.

Building a business is rarely a straight line. It is daily, it is messy, and you learn as you go. Start small. Execute anyway.
