Thirty Years Ago It Was Protein. Today It's Peptides.
Thirty years ago, people laughed when I put 20 grams of protein into a nutrition bar. Retailers didn't understand it. Nutrition bars were sitting in the candy aisle, and almost no one was talking about protein the way we do today. I wasn't trying to create a trend, I was trying to solve a problem.
As a model traveling the world, I needed a convenient, high-protein, low-sugar snack that didn't exist. So I made one in my kitchen. Years later, that idea became thinkThin®.
Today, I feel a sense of déjà vu, but the conversation has shifted from protein to peptides. Once again, there's excitement, skepticism, and plenty of misinformation. Some people dismiss peptides entirely, while others believe they're the answer to everything.
I've learned something about being early: Never confuse being early with being wrong. That doesn't mean every peptide is effective or that everyone should use them. It means we shouldn't dismiss innovation simply because it's new - or embrace it blindly because it's exciting.
The answer isn't hype. The answer isn't fear. The answer is curiosity.Ask better questions, and read the science to understand who may benefit. Get familiar with what the risks are, and where the evidence is still evolving. That's the same mindset I had when I introduced one of the first high-protein nutrition bars, and it's the same mindset I bring to women's health and longevity today.
Sometimes today's "crazy idea" becomes tomorrow's standard of care. The future belongs to those who stay curious.
What health innovation do you think people are underestimating today?
