Cerebrolysin, Brain Health & The Future of Cognitive Longevity
I recently came across a conversation around Cerebrolysin, a compound being discussed for brain health, concussion recovery, traumatic brain injury, stroke rehabilitation, and Alzheimer’s disease. As someone who spends a lot of time studying wellness and longevity, it caught my attention.
Here are a few facts:
• Cerebrolysin has been studied in patients with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s disease, with some research showing improvements in cognition and daily function.
• It has also been explored for traumatic brain injury, concussion recovery, stroke rehabilitation, and neurodegenerative conditions.
• It is not considered a mainstream treatment in the U.S. and remains an area of ongoing research.
• Most studies suggest it may work by supporting neuroprotection, neuroplasticity, and growth factors involved in brain repair.
But what interested me most was the bigger conversation: Why are we waiting until the brain is injured before focusing on brain health? I believe cognitive longevity will become one of the most important topics in wellness over the next decade - especially for women.
Hormones, sleep, inflammation, menopause, stress, muscle mass, blood sugar, and lifestyle all influence how our brains age. The future may absolutely include advanced therapies and regenerative medicine.
